Helpful Information

What Patients Ask Us Most Often

These answers apply to most MRI and CT exams at our clinic. Exam-specific instructions may be provided by our ordering physician and imaging technologists.

Scheduling & Appointments

Do I need a doctor’s referral to schedule an MRI or CT? +
No. A doctor’s referral is not necessary. All imaging exams do require an order, but our on-site facility physician can evaluate walk-in patients and provide an order based on your symptoms or injury. You can contact our clinic directly to schedule your appointment.
How do I schedule my exam? +
You can contact our office directly at (385) 433-3323 to schedule your exam. A doctor’s referral is not necessary. Our team will confirm any prep instructions and help you choose an appointment time.
How long will my appointment take? +
Most appointments take about 40 minutes from check-in to completion. This includes time to review your paperwork, change into clinic-provided garments, position you for the scan, and complete the images.
Can I bring someone with me? +
You are welcome to bring a friend or family member to the clinic. For safety reasons, they may be asked to wait in the reception area during the scan itself, depending on the exam and their medical history.
What if I need to reschedule or cancel? +
If you need to change your appointment, please call us as soon as possible at (385) 433-3323. We understand that plans change and will work with you to find a new time.

Before Your MRI or CT

What should I wear to my appointment? +
We recommend comfortable clothing without metal zippers, snaps, or buttons. Most patients will change into clinic-provided garments, and lockers are available for personal items and valuables.
Can I eat or drink before my exam? +
For many MRI exams, you can eat and drink normally. Certain studies may have specific instructions (for example, fasting for a few hours). Our team will review any special prep with you by phone before your visit.
Do I need to arrive early? +
Please arrive 10–15 minutes early to complete any remaining paperwork, review safety questions, and get settled before your exam time.
What if I have metal implants or a pacemaker? +
It’s very important to tell us about any implants, pacemakers, stents, or surgical hardware. Some devices are MRI-safe and some are not. Our team will review this information before your exam to keep you safe.
Is it safe to have an MRI if I am pregnant? +
Please let our staff know if you are pregnant or think you might be. Many MRI exams can still be performed safely, but the decision is made on a case-by-case basis by our medical team.

During the Exam

What does an MRI feel like? +
MRI does not hurt. You ll lie on a padded table that slides into the scanner. You ’ll hear rhythmic knocking or humming sounds while the machine takes pictures. We provide ear protection, and many exams allow for music or relaxation techniques.
Will I be fully enclosed in the MRI? +
Wasatch Imaging Clinic uses a wide-bore Siemens Magnetom Altea MRI system with a 70 cm opening, designed to feel more spacious than older scanners. Our technologists talk with you throughout the exam and can see and hear you at all times.
What if I feel anxious or claustrophobic? +
Feeling nervous about MRI is very common. Our team will explain each step, help you get comfortable, and check in during the exam. In some cases your provider may prescribe medication to help you relax. If you are concerned, please discuss this with your provider and let our staff know when you schedule.
Can I move during the scan? +
It’s important to hold still during each picture so the images are clear. We build in short breaks between sequences whenever possible, and our technologists will let you know how long each part will take.

After the Exam & Results

When will my results be ready? +
Most routine MRI and CT exams are interpreted within 2–3 business days. Urgent findings are communicated sooner whenever possible.
Will someone at the clinic explain my results to me? +
Results are sent directly to your ordering provider, who knows your full medical history and can interpret the findings in context. Our front desk does not provide formal interpretations of imaging results to patients.
What if results are needed sooner? +
If an expedited report is needed for a time-sensitive decision, a medical office may contact our clinic directly. We’re glad to work with them when possible to meet urgent needs.
Can I get a copy of my images? +
Yes. If you need a copy of your images on disc or in digital form, please let us know. Some requests may require advance notice so we can prepare the files for you.

Cost, Self-Pay Pricing & Insurance

Do you accept self-pay patients? +
Yes. We offer clear self-pay pricing for many exams, including MRI starting at $399 and coronary calcium score CT for $89. Our team can review your specific exam and confirm pricing when you call.
What is included in the self-pay price? +
Self-pay pricing typically includes the technical portion of the exam and the radiologist interpretation. If any additional services are required, we will review these with you before your exam whenever possible.
When do I pay for my exam? +
Payment is due at the time of service and is collected at the beginning of your appointment.
Can I use a Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA)? +
In many cases you can use HSA or FSA funds to pay for imaging services. Please check with your plan administrator if you have questions about what is eligible.
Is pricing per scan or per visit? +
Pricing is listed per individual scan. If imaging is needed for more than one body area, each scan is priced separately. Our team will always review pricing with you when you schedule so there are no surprises on the day of your exam.
